Goulburn & Cooma Public Schools – Cooler Classrooms Program
Client: NSW Government
Contract Value: $1,054,000
Duration: 12 months
WIRED ACT was engaged to design, supply, and install all mechanical electrical and BMS systems as part of the NSW Government’s Cooler Classrooms initiative at Goulburn Primary/High School and Cooma Primary School.
Our scope included:
- Design and installation of electrical infrastructure (pad-mount substations, MSBs, DBs)
- Under-bored conduit and pit systems, submains
- Over 50 custom-built DDC control panels
- BMS field cabling, hardware, programming, and commissioning
The BMS system was programmed to optimise air quality and indoor comfort through seasonal modes, CO₂ monitoring, and smart alerts. A user-friendly interface enables teachers to control the system with a single touch while encouraging natural ventilation when outdoor conditions permit.
Advanced features included:
- Real-time air quality feedback using CO₂ and outdoor sensors
- Automated night purging for improved next-day conditions
- In-house drafting of automation and control schematics
- Continuous operation for safe and optimal learning environments
Our team collaborated closely with NSW project officers, consulting engineers, and school staff to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations. The project was completed on time, on budget, and to government standards.
